This is my local cafe. It was taken over by a couple of brothers about a year ago. The coffee is good, the service is great, but the food is lousy.
So, I started to complain and spoke to the cafe manager/owner about the problems including: partly cooked & smelly fish fillets @ $26.00 per plate, this happened twice; then Minestrone with NO beans and half cooked spaghetti(that's NOT minestrone)instead of the special little pasta tubes.
These were called Daily Specials. He just shrugged off my complaints. Didn't seem to care and offered NO restitution.
Then there was the Chicken Salad that contained DRY Crunchy Rice Noodles. It was terrible.
So I wrote a letter to him and his Bro saying what was wrong. I went there and handed it to him in person.
A few days later I went for coffee. He served me and didn't even mention the letter, just like nothing had happened. I asked him if he had anything to say. He could not think what it might be. So i reminded him. He said he had posted a reply, i had been to my PO Box but had not yet received it.That was last Friday.
Two days later, last Sunday, I went there again for coffee and the waitress asked me if i wanted to eat. I said i was unhappy that i had not yet received any reply to my letter of complaint and that they obviously didn't want me as a customer anymore. She defended the Chicken Salad and said that if I didn't like dry, crunchy noodles then i should not have ordered it of the new menu.
Anyway, another "Special of the Day" was Chicken Soup. So i said i would risk my arm on a main course serving @ $12.00. The soup arrived, the serving was lousy even for an entree, the colour was creamy to yellow, it tasted NOT good. It contained a few small pieces of chicken breast meat, a few short noodles and some sweet corn kernels. I had two spoon fulls & gave up. I told them that i would never be coming back there again.
On Tuesday I received their Letter of Reply signed by the two brothers. They said they "Appreciate customer feedback". That is ALL they said. No offers of anything to "put it Right". No recognition of the problems at all.
So today I sent an email saying that i realise that they don't want me as a customer and i won't be going back there again until there are new owners.

| Toowoomba is pretty flush with eateries per capita from memory. Vote with your feet mate. You've given these guys more than enough chances. |

Why do you keep going back and trying different things????
I'm sure you can find another more suitable establishment to your liking or perhaps for some reason you just want to bag this place
Seems very odd & who writes a letter to a cafe after complaining verbally several times? Strange... |

| Have you tried buying a cook book and DIY. Less time on your hands. Cooking is actually a very pleasurable thing to do. |

Well it is obvious that you guys don't understand SMALL Communities. We don't have a lot of choice and the quality is often "So, So"
For this reason why should we have to put up with being treated badly by the lousy Aussie Hospitality Industry?
I don't understand why you would even want to get involved at all.
And, some of you don't understand the situation at all.It is NOT about BAGGING as you put. It is the TRUTH! So there!
I can cook @ home and I do.
BUT, who wants to stay at home all the time and when i have calls to make on that side of town, it is good to soak up the sun, drink coffee and eat a meal with some social exposure.
However, some people running eating establishments are Mediocre - so hence the warning to others
Reason for letter was to get them to IMPROVE what they do, so that eating there is an enjoyable experience. Then they can do well too, instead of going BROKE. |

| When there is no competition then there is no reason to lift there game. if everything is mediocre then why bother. Sadly, this is the case. Hopefully someone that cares will want to establish themselves as a leading eatery and give them a wake up call. I thought Toowoomba wasn't a back water any more |
